Erin's Law

The public is becoming increasingly aware of the rising incidence of abuse and neglect of children. Our State Department of Education requires us to take an active role in preventing child abuse and neglect. Erin’s Law outlines the responsibilities that schools have to provide students with instruction on this topic. You can find more on this law by visiting http://www.erinslaw.org/.

During the month of November, our students will participate in one Personal Body Safety-Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention lesson. The lesson will be co-taught by a school counselor and your child’s homeroom teacher. Additionally, each lesson is tailored to the age/grade and developmental level of the child. As mentioned above, the State Department of Education requires us to present this information to students.

If you need more information about the materials and information that will be shared as part of the lesson, please contact the school counselors Paige Hoagland or Jordan Culbreth.
