The first edition of The Lighthouse News is now available. The paper is created by the students in Mrs. Henderson's writing class. 
The Lighthouse news also sells happy birthday ads for 50 cents and use the funds to buy paper for printing.

Post and Courier columnist, Ken Burger (center), visited Mrs. Henderson's fourth grade writing classes at Pinckney Elementary in Mount Pleasant on Thursday, Aug. 27. He shared his expertise on reporting, writing, and editing news stories. The students are preparing to publish a school newspaper and enjoyed hearing Burger's advice the newspaper business. His biggest piece of advice was to listen to those you are interviewingthere is always a story there.
On Tuesday, Sept. 1,  Wal-Mart representatives awarded Charles Pinckney Elementary School with a grant totaling $1000. Mr. Griggs (far right), the assistant principal, accepted the check during the school’s first PTO meeting. The grant will help the school build  a sports court to promote health and fitness for its students.  Betty Bowers, left, from accounting and Melissa Story, assistant manager from the Wal-Mart Super Center on Highway 17 are seen here as well.
