Mrs.Skinner's Biography
Teaching Position:

     I am one of the five teachers for the S.A.I.L. classes at Pinckney Elementary, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade academically gifted and talented program
in Charleston County School District.
Born and raised:

     I grew up in Albany, Indiana, a small town in east central Indiana
. As a child and young adult, I was very active in sports like basketball, softball, golf, track & field, flag football, and soccer. Today, you may even catch me on the Pinckney basketball court shooting a few hoops or sharing my ball handling skills with some of the students.
Where do I say I'm "from" now?
   
  I live in Mt. Pleasant with my husband of 34 years. We have two beautiful daughters. Our oldest daughter and her husband graduated from medical school at MUSC and are in their 2nd year of residency in the Greenville, SC area. Our youngest daughter and her husband, both graduates from The College of Charleston, and have just moved back from Boston where our son-in-law attended graduate school at Boston University.
Interests:
     I enjoy walking with friends to keep in shape and going to College of Charleston baseball, basketball, and soccer games with my husband.
Education:

     I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a teaching endorsement in Physical Education from Ball State University located in Muncie, IN (1980), where I played on the B.S.U. Women's Varsity Golf Team.
     In 1993, I received a Masters degree in Elementary Education from The College of Charleston.  I also earned an endorsement in Gifted Education in 2002 at The College of Charleston
.
Experience:

     Over the past 35 years of teaching in Elementary Education and Gifted Education, I have been blessed to be a part of the future.
     I have taught for 28 years in Charleston County School District;
          -18 years at Pinckney Elementary - 1999 to present,
          -5 years at Belle Hall Elementary - 1994 to 1999,
          -5 years at Buist Academy - 1986 to 1991.
     During my first 5 years of teaching, I taught in the Columbus, Ohio area at Smith Elementary of Delaware (OH) City Schools - 1981 to 1986.
